Located on the north-western side of the Dardanelles, the Gallipoli peninsula has long been a key to Istanbul in that anyone breaking through straits, had a good chance of capturing Istanbul. Many have triedi but few have succeeded. Although today Gallipoli Peninsula is a peacful place, it is a place a great significance for Australians and New Zealanders, many of whom make the trek here each year for ANZAC day.
